Ep.1 The Net Between the Worlds
Welcome to the very first episode of my Slimline Heaven mini series — where tall cards and big ideas come together! I’m so excited to kick off this creative journey with a project that’s not only interactive, but also completely out of this world.
This fabulous plate inspired today’s project. This is Glimmer Foil of the Month Club from Spellbinders and I wanted to use it in a little bit different way that it was intended to.
Even though the Spellbinders theme is the ocean, my card is inspired by starlit skies, hidden messages, and the invisible connections that tie us together across space and time. (Yes, it’s dramatic — and I love it.)
This slimline card features the Spellbinders Glimmer Plate of the Month for June, and it’s like nothing I’ve made before. I took this celestial and intricate plate and added a fun surprise:
👉 A hidden light-up feature that brings the design to life at the press of a button!
The moment the card lights up, it feels like a portal has opened — a glowing constellation casting messages across a dark sky. ✨
🛠 Techniques & Features:
Hot foiling using the Glimmer Plate of the Month (June)
Slimline format (3.5” x 8.5”) to maximize elegance and visual space
Light-up mechanism with hidden battery and switch
Layered die cuts for depth and drama
Rich navy and gold palette with glowing accents
This was a card of firsts — first light-up circuit in a slimline, and first time mixing celestial themes with an interactive format. It reminded me that stretching creatively (and literally, with the card size!) can lead to some unexpected and magical results.
