Hello crafty friends and welcome to the month of May!
May’s Club Kits from Spellbinders have been such a joy to work with! This month, I created three completely different cards, each showcasing the unique features of the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit, BetterPress Club, and 3D Embossing Folder Club. Whether you’re into interactive cards, clean designs, or ornate textures, there’s something here for every style. Let’s dive into the details of each one.

Tactile Texturing
This card is a minimalist 5×7 design that packs a quiet but clever punch. The BetterPress Plate this month is all about letters—literally! It’s a full plate of letters that create a beautiful alphabet collage.
I used the BetterPress Letterpress System with Spellbinders’ Cotton Paper, designed specifically for this technique, and their Black BetterPress ink for a crisp, professional look. Then came the fun part: I used red gouache from Altenew to selectively highlight certain letters to reveal a hidden message embedded in the chaos. Can you spot what it says?
For the sentiment, I used one of the two included in the kit:
“You Complete My Alphabet.”
It ties in perfectly with the hidden message and adds a touch of sweetness to this clean, conceptual design.
This card really shows how impactful simplicity can be when paired with thoughtful design.
My second card is a square-shaped interactive design featuring this month’s Glimmer Hot Foil Plate—a fun and whimsical pencil pattern that I absolutely loved working with. To bring in a unique and functional twist, I die-cut a square opening in the corner of the card and tucked a small stack of Post-it notes inside. Yes, actual Post-its!
Around that feature, I hand-drew a little notepad for added charm and dimension, and added die-cut pencils to bring the theme to life. The background is subtly dry embossed using the BetterPress Plate from this month’s Club, showing how versatile these products can be even when used in unexpected ways.
This card is perfect as a teacher appreciation card or a cute gift for someone who loves to jot down ideas. You can also customize it to fit any occasion such as graduation or a pick me up card.
Recommend you use: Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System
Now for my favorite card of the trio! This design is all about texture, depth, and vintage charm. I used the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, which features an incredibly detailed design that looks like rows of ornate books on a shelf.
I started with deep purple cardstock, then rubbed gold wax over the raised portions to bring out all the gorgeous embossed details. The result? A rich, antique-looking card that feels like it belongs in an old library.
To make it extra special, I crafted a mini bookmark using vellum and white cardstock, and even made a little tassel to go with it. I attached it using a Crop-A-Dile from We R Memory Keepers—such a handy tool!
Then, I hand-lettered “book titles” on the embossed spines and added a sentiment to the bookmark itself using a gold pen for that finishing touch.
This 7×4 card would be perfect for a book lover, a graduation, or even a retirement celebration.

Each of these cards highlights just how versatile and inspiring the Spellbinders Club Kits can be. Whether you’re new to paper crafting or a seasoned pro, the monthly kits offer fresh creative possibilities—and they all work so beautifully together if you want to mix and match like I did!
