Level 2, Lesson 3 – With a Twist with Therese Calvird

Level 2, Lesson 3 – With a Twist with Therese Calvird

Hello everyone! Happy Easter!

Even though it’s a holiday, I decided to spend a little bit of time to connect to my audience. Today’s lesson is called With a Twist and I have to admit this is my favorite lesson in this course. This design totally caught me by surprise and truly helped me look at certain designs with different approach.

This was my inspiration for today. This card was created by super talented Therese Calvird and I just love the contrasts and vibrancy of these colors; I simply could not help but create something similar. Now, Therese added details with color pencils which made her card so full of details and more interesting and special so to speak. But my motto is “quick and simple” and I had to think of a way to recreate this look without spending too much time on a design. So this is what I came up with;

These are the main components for today’s card:

  • Altenew Die Inks (Pinkalicious, Rubellite, Magenta, Parrot, Evergreen & Permanent Black)
  • Altenew Garden Hydrangea Layering Stamp Set
  • Altenew Sentiment Strips 2

Since I chose such a vibrant color paper, inks had to be a little bit darker so the stamped image would show better. I like to make a little ink swatch as reference, because dye inks do fade out as they dry and I waited a few moments before stamping, for that particular reason. And then, I started layering my stamps. I started from the lightest to the darkest ink, and for stamping I used a MISTI stamping tool, just in case I needed to double stamp. I did the same thing with the leaves and after my stamping was done, I simply used coordinating dies to cut my images. I then cut a piece of bright orange paper and cut it to 4 3/4 x 4 3/4 and stamped a sentiment from Sentiment Strips 2 by Altenew, using Permanent Black dye ink also from Altenew. I then arraigned my die cut to the panel and simply cut off the access using a pair of scissors. I then glued everything to the card base, embellished with tiny, gold jewels for some more interest, and the card was done!

I am so pleased how my card turned out! I am just so blown away by this color combination and I am absolutely certain that I will be using these colors in the future.

I hope you like this happy card as much as I do, and if you have any questions or comments please let me know down below.

Thank you so much for visiting me today and I will see you soon in the next post!

Cheers!
