Spellbinders March Clubs – BetterPress & Glimmer Hot Foil

Spring is in the air, and with it comes fresh creativity from Spellbinders! This March, the clubs are brimming with exciting new products that are sure to take your crafting journey to new heights. I’m thrilled to share my experience with the BetterPress and Glimmer Hot Foil Plates, which opened up a world of possibilities for my latest card-making projects.

Discover the Beauty of BetterPress

The BetterPress plates are a standout in the Spellbinders collection. These intricate designs feature a quilted-like pattern that can be colored and embellished in countless ways. What’s truly innovative is their dual functionality; they can also be used as foil plates, providing an incredible array of creative options. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just starting out, these plates will inspire you to explore new techniques and styles.

Stunning Glimmer Hot Foil Sentiments

This month’s Glimmer Hot Foil Plates bring a fresh selection of sentiments perfect for any occasion. The beautiful iridescent foil included in the set adds a magical touch, making your projects pop. The hand-scripted die designs are not only elegant but also ideal for crafting heartfelt cards for Mother’s and Father’s Day.

My Creative Journey: Five Unique Cards

I combined both the BetterPress and Glimmer Hot Foil Plates to create five distinct cards that showcase the versatility of these products.

BetterPress Designs

The first two cards were designed with the BetterPress technique in mind. I adore the letterpress look, and Spellbinders’ BetterPress (click HERE) does an exceptional job of capturing that aesthetic.

  • Mother’s Day Card: For this card, I chose a soft pink hue, perfect for celebrating moms. I used BetterPress ink to create the stunning quilted pattern on beautiful cotton paper designed specifically for BetterPress. The result is a card that radiates warmth and love.

  • Father’s Day Card: In contrast, I created a vibrant turquoise card for Father’s Day. The intricate design stands out beautifully, embodying a sense of celebration and appreciation.

Simple Foiling with BetterPress Plates

In my exploration of foiling with BetterPress plates, I created three distinct cards that showcase both simplicity and elegance. Each card reflects my personal style and the versatility of the BetterPress system.

Two Pink Cards: A Fusion of Elegance and Playfulness

For my two additional pink cards, I wanted to embrace a playful yet elegant aesthetic, perfectly suited for various occasions.

I used 110 lb cardstock for its durability and ability to hold the intricate patterns well and  The “Quilted Memories” (click HERE) BetterPress plate added texture and dimension to each card.

Design Process:

  1. Foiling the Pattern: For this you are going to need A Hot Foiling System (click HERE), and simply use the plate like you would with the plates for foiling. The pattern will always transfer flawlessly, and as a result you will get a rich, textured look that is both inviting and sophisticated.

  2. Adding Color Accents: For one of the pink cards, I decided to incorporate metallic accents. Using silver and gold metallic pens, I carefully added highlights to the quilted pattern, which provided a striking contrast against the soft pink background. The metallic elements caught the light beautifully, enhancing the overall elegance of the card. And to bring in a pop of vibrancy, I included a splash of orange. This color combination of hot pink and orange is one of my absolute favorites, as it evokes a sense of energy and joy. The orange accents were applied sparingly, ensuring they complemented rather than overwhelmed the overall design.

3. Final Touches: I finished both pink cards with tiny crystals scattered throughout. These embellishments added a bit of sparkle and interest, making the cards feel festive and special. The result is a pair of cards that are versatile enough for birthdays, celebrations, or just to brighten someone’s day.

Chic Black & White Card: A Timeless Classic

The final card was a deliberate choice to embrace a classic black and white theme, highlighting the elegance of the BetterPress pattern without the distraction of vibrant Again, I used sturdy 110 lb cardstock to ensure a professional feel. This black and white card showcases the beauty of simplicity. The use of iridescent foil adds a dynamic element, catching the light in different ways, while the silver gel pen accents offer just enough detail to make it visually interesting. It’s a versatile design, perfect for various occasions—be it a formal event, a heartfelt note, or an elegant invitation.

By utilizing classic color choices and incorporating these techniques, I’ve created a card that feels both timeless and contemporary. I hope this inspires you to explore the elegance of black cardstock combined with beautiful foiling in your own crafting!

The Result

Each card tells a story, combining the tactile experience of BetterPress with the shimmering allure of foiling. The intricate patterns and beautiful foils create eye-catching designs that are sure to impress anyone who receives them.

I encourage you to experiment with these techniques and find your own style. The possibilities are endless when you combine BetterPress and Glimmer Hot Foil Plates!
