Ep. 2 Anchored In Infinity
Welcome back to Slimline Heaven, my mini series where we stretch creativity and dimensions in tall, elegant formats! For Episode 2, we’re heading out to sea — sort of — with a nautical-inspired design that features texture, symbolism, and a secret twist.
This card features the 3D Embossing Folder of the Month from Spellbinders, and let me tell you — the detail in these knots is stunning. The texture practically begs to be touched.
But the real surprise? A hinged circular “porthole” window that lifts open to reveal a 3D anchor charm floating inside. It’s an interactive detail that adds both depth and meaning — and gives that nautical journal or vintage map feel.
This card is all about enduring connections — the kinds of bonds that hold firm no matter the distance or tide. The design centers around nautical rope knots shaped like infinity symbols, embossed across the card front. And hidden at its heart? A dangling navy anchor charm, revealed inside an interactive window.
🌊 Techniques & Features:
Slimline format (3.5″ x 8.5″) with horizontal layout
3D embossed rope pattern with soft ink blending to highlight depth
Hinge-cut circular window (like a ship’s porthole)
Suspended 1″ navy anchor charm
Optional magnetic closure for the porthole flap
🛠 A Bit of Engineering:
To make room for the charm, I had to raise the card panel using foam tape — enough to give the anchor room to swing slightly when the flap opens. It’s a small touch, but it adds a whole new dimension (literally!) to the piece.
