A Month of Texture, Sparkle & Frosty Cheer
October’s Spellbinders Club releases have such a magical balance — a mix of cozy textures, classic sparkle, and whimsical charm that truly capture the spirit of the season.
Each club brings its own story to the table, and together, they form a beautiful, festive trio: BetterPress, Glimmer, and 3D Embossing.
Let’s take a look at how each one came to life in my studio this month. 💌
☃️ BetterPress Club of the Month – “Sending Frosty Wishes”
This month’s BetterPress Plate of the Month might be the happiest one yet.
It’s filled with rows of tiny, expressive snowmen — waving, smiling, tumbling around, and spreading pure winter joy.
I wanted to let the design do most of the talking, so I pressed it onto white BetterPress cotton cardstock, using crisp black ink, then softly tinted the snowmen with subtle watercolor washes. Tiny hints of gold added that little extra sparkle, because… well, I can never resist a touch of shine! ✨
The sentiment “Sending Frosty Wishes” is included in the set and perfectly sums up the playful mood of the plate.
It’s cheerful, simple, and irresistibly cute — the kind of design that makes you smile before you even finish the card.
🧱 3D Embossing Folder of the Month – “Brick by Brick”
The 3D Embossing Folder of the Month instantly became my favorite texture of the season.
The deep, realistic brick pattern adds structure and warmth — it’s cozy, tactile, and incredibly detailed.
For my project, I wanted to create a little story — a slimline “holiday house” scene.
I embossed red cardstock, brushed a touch of white ink over the raised bricks to mimic snow, then die-cut a tall window right in the center. Behind it, a candy-colored Christmas tree peeks through, glowing from the inside.
The result feels like a snapshot of a magical winter evening — cozy, sweet, and full of charm.
The little tree image that is peeking through the window is actually a rub on sticker that is something completely new at Spellbinders. These stickers are so easy to apply and give so much detail and interest to your paper projects.
The window die that I used is an old die that is no longer available. However, Spellbinders released a few beautiful dies that will most definitely look fabulous with this design. I encourage you to check them out:
✨ Glimmer Club of the Month – Let It Snow and Sparkle
This month’s Glimmer Hot Foil Plate brings pure festive glamour.
It’s a full background design scattered with stars, hearts, and tiny dots — like the shimmer of holiday lights caught mid-twinkle.
I couldn’t resist creating two completely different looks with it:
Gold on White — for an elegant, airy, modern feel.
Gold on Black — for a dramatic, high-contrast card that feels luxe and bold.
Both panels were finished with a simple foiled sentiment, “Merry & Bright,” and layered over gold mirror cardstock for a touch of depth.
This plate is one of those evergreen (pun intended!) designs that will work year after year — from holiday cards to celebratory occasions long after the season ends.
This month’s clubs capture everything I love about the holiday season — texture, shimmer, and storytelling.
From the playful joy of those BetterPress snowmen, to the glamorous foiled Glimmer background, to the dimensional charm of the 3D Brick wall — each piece has its own personality, yet they all come together beautifully.
Spellbinders continues to make it so easy to combine these techniques into cohesive, layered projects that feel fresh and inspiring every single month.
Until next time — stay creative, stay inspired, and keep crafting joy into every detail. 💫
