Hello my dear crafty and/or not so crafty friends. Welcome to another Tuesday blog. I have just realized that there are only a couple of days left to the month of November and I still have not entered the Altenew monthly inspiration challenge!
Before I begin with today’s project, I would like to tell you that the kitty from the last month challenge was one of the winners! YAY! And now we have to wait to see what happens next…
This image is the inspiration challenge for the month of November.
These beautiful fall colors are truly inspirational and I might have taken this challenge too literally, but the second I saw this image, I knew exactly what I wanted to make.
For my project I used the following:
I first started off by creating the background and for this I used Altenew dye inks. I gradually added the color to my paper with Altenew Mini Blending Brushes. Now, I know that the blending does not look smooth, but that is ok. Dye inks always soften up once they dry and seep into the fibers of paper. This is also important to remember when you are stamping with dye inks. The image will always look splotchy when you first stamp it.
TIP: When doing stamp layering, allow your image to dry before you apply another layer on top it. To speed up the process you can use your heat gun and dry your stamped layers in between stamping.
After I was done with my background, it was time to stamp the star of the show!
This tree stamp is truly magnificent. I have another project planned with this stamp set that I am absolutely positive you are going to love.
To stamp the canopy of the tree I used Pumpkin Pie, Autumn Blaze and Espresso.
For the trunk of the tree I used Altenew Dye Inks that were recommended in the little booklet that came with this stamp set.
For some extra dimension I used the edges of a blending brush and added some strokes . The ink color I here is Pumpkin Pie.
After I was done coloring, the card still looked unfinished to me. When this happens I usually go one of two ways: one, I add some embellishments, or two, I use deckle trimmer and create a border around my panel. Since this card did not call for any embellishments, (well, there really in no recipe that strictly says that, I’d say it is a feeling) I chose the latter.
I simply trimmed my panel with a deckle trimmer and created an additional panel that with serve as a frame to my image. I used Alenew Icy Water dye ink to color the edges of the panel, added a sentiment and assembled everything with the Foam Tape from Altenew.
And my card was done!
That is all for today.
I hope you like this project and I hope this project inspiring.
Thank you for visiting me today and I will see you next week with something new and fun.
Stay tuned!
