Who says snowflakes can’t enjoy a little sunshine? For this month’s Spellbinders 3D Embossing Folder of the Month, I decided to have some fun with the theme of Christmas in July—and give our frosty friends a bit of a summer glow-up.
Think tropical sunsets and chilled-out snowflakes. I wanted the texture and sparkle of a classic winter card, but with the warm colors and playful spirit of summertime.
The sentiment says it all: “Not Every Snowflake Melts. Some Just Tan”

Here’s how this sunny snowflake card came to life:
- Sentiment Design
I created the sentiment in Canva, shaping the text in a semi-circle to perfectly hug the edge of the die-cut circle window. Then I foiled it with my Minc machine for that luxurious gold finish that catches the light just right. - Color Blending Magic
I blended Distress Oxide Inks across the card front in a summery gradient of pinks, oranges, and aquas. These oxides blend like a dream and give that soft chalky glow, even over the foil.
3. Embossing for Dimension
Once the panel was inked, I ran it through the Spellbinders 3D Embossing Folder. The snowflake design reallypops with the dimension, and the ink highlights every detail.
4. Peek-a-Boo Circle
I die-cut a circular window in the card front to showcase the foiled sentiment beneath. A small gold snowflake embellishment sits right in the center like it’s soaking up the rays.
Foil first, ink second. Always foil your sentiment or design before applying Distress Oxides to avoid interfering with foil adhesion.
I love how this project turned out—bold, bright, and just a little bit sassy. The Spellbinders 3D folder brought all the cozy winter vibes, while the colors and sentiment added that unexpected summer twist. It’s the perfect reminder that crafting outside the season box can lead to some of the most fun and unique designs.
So go ahead—mix your holidays with your heatwaves. Not every snowflake has to melt.
Thank you for coming and I will see you soon with a new post.
Cheers!
