Monochrome Wax Seal Cards & Foiling w/BetterPress – Spellbinders Clubs July 2025

Christmas in July is the perfect time to get a head start on your holiday crafting! This week, I’m bringing you a fun and creative way to incorporate two of my favorite tools from Spellbinders’ Monthly Clubs – the Betterpress plate and Wax Seal stamp. I’m keeping it simple yet elegant with a monochrome design using soft pinks and blues with foiled details and two-tone wax seals. Whether you’re making these cards for yourself or gifting them, they’re sure to add a cozy, festive touch to any holiday celebration.

This season I’m leaning into minimalist design with maximum impact—and nothing does that quite like foiling and texture. For this duo of holiday cards, I combined pastel cardstocks, metallic foils, and a Nordic-style background plate to create a simple yet sophisticated winter look.

Materials Used:

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Creating the Base:
Start by cutting two 4”x4” card bases, one in a soft pink shade and the other in a calming light blue. The monochrome theme will come to life once the foiling and wax seals are added.

  2. Foiling BetterPress:
I used the Betterpress plate from the July  2025 Club to foil the stitched knitted pattern onto each card base. I chose a gold foil for the pink card and silver foil for the blue card. Foiling with the letterpress plates is incredible and extremely satisfying. It adds texture and dimension, elevating the design without overwhelming the simplicity of the color palette.

  3. Crafting the Wax Seals:
Next, it’s time for the wax seals! Using the “scrape-off” technique, melt both pink and gold wax beads for the pink card, and light blue and silver for the blue card. Once the wax is melted, simply pour wax over the top of the seal, and scrape off extra wax with a metal spatula until you are left with the little “valleys” filled with wax and the rest of the seal is nice and clean of any residue wax. Next, just pour the next color wax and simply stamp. Allow the wax store cool completely before peeling it off.
Once my seals were done I trimmed the sides with scissors and I ended up with a beautiful clean, square look.

  4. Adding the Sentiment:
To finish the cards, foil and die-cut the “Cozy Wishes” and “Holiday Cheer” sentiments (these sentiments are included in the BetterPress die set)  and adhere them to the center or below the wax seal. The foiling and embossing make the sentiments pop and provide a beautiful contrast against the background colors.

Whether you’re crafting for Christmas in July or just looking for a festive and fun way to get ahead on your holiday cards, these monochrome wax seal designs are the perfect solution. With a few easy steps and the help of Spellbinders’ products, you can create personalized, one-of-a-kind holiday cards that will bring warmth and cheer to anyone who receives them!
