Hello all and happy Hump Day!
Today is all about scene building and without going overboard I decided to make a quick but whimsical card.
This card here, created by Nichol Magouirk was my inspiration for today. I love what Nichol did here. I truly believe that there is nothing that speaks “scene” better than looking through the window so I took a closer look to my stash and this is what I came up with:
This card is also a “collaboration” of two companies that I am so partial to: Altenew and Spellbinders.
Supplies used in today’s card:
Before I started, I went to Michael’s to see if I could find some interesting pattern paper. Honestly I was shocked to see how expensive their pattern paper was! I was looking for a galaxy theme and all I was able to find was a big 12×12 thin card stock set that out of I believe 20 – 30 pages had only two pages that I liked and it was around $20! There was no way I was going to pay $20 for two pages of poor quality paper. So, I came home, and decided not to go to Michael’s ever again, lol just kidding, no that is not what I decided; what I decided was to make my own pattern paper. So I picked Altenew “Kind Words” stamp set and made my own pattern paper using a much better quality products! I gold embossed the star burst image all over my navy card stock using VersaMark embossing ink and gold embossing powder. I heat set it and my pattern paper was born! Just beautiful!
Next, I simply did all my die cutting: background, sentiment and of course, my scene.
And the assembly was pretty easy and quick. First I glued the card base, then the window and finally the starry scene. I added a sentiment to the front and the inside of the card and the card was done! Truly a simple and quick technique yet so impactful and beautiful.
That is all for today, I will see you tomorrow with another lesson, another card.
